Technical requirements
Computer
- A laptop or desktop running Windows 10 or 11, macOS or Linux
- At least 8 GB of RAM (16 GB is better for large datasets)
- At least 10 GB of free disk space for software and course data
You can read pages and watch videos on a phone or tablet, but most exercises need a computer.
Software
- QGIS: install the version named on the course's Start here page. If no version is named, use the current Long Term Release from qgis.org.
- Other tools: courses that use PostGIS, Python, QField or Mergin Maps list the extra software and versions on their Start here page.
- Mobile field data courses: you will also need an Android or iOS phone or tablet.
Installing software usually needs administrator rights. If you use a work computer, ask your IT department to install it before the course starts.
Web browser
- A current version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari
- JavaScript and cookies enabled
Internet connection
A stable broadband connection is enough. Videos adjust to your connection speed. If your connection is slow or expensive, download each module's data in one go and work offline in QGIS.
